"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God." - John 1:1
"For the first 15 years or so of my Christian life, I thought going to church was enough. I thought that hearing Bible stories and what my parents taught me was the same as reading the Bible, since it was the same material. I would quote the verse “Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God,” and I was confident that my faith was secure. I was a pastor’s kid, so I heard a lot of the Word.
Then, after I graduated high school, I hit a fork in the road. I could either go down the college road of partying and throw my life away, or I could go deep with God and make my relationship with God my own. I always knew that the Bible was truth, so I decided that it would be in my best interest to get grounded in the Word of God.
I started reading my Bible all the time and really studying the Word. I got the revelation that the Word of God was living and active. I realized that the Lord speaking to me. The Word was God, and by reading His word, I was getting to know Him.
Reading the Bible is essential to having a relationship with God! Going to church is not the same as having an intimate relationship with God our Father. If you want the blessing of peace that comes from a deep relationship with Christ then you must spend time getting to know Him. One of the best ways to get to know Him is to spend time in His Word.
Are you simply doing things for God? Or are you getting to know Him through His Word. Feed yourself on the bread of life today!"
