"And when the priests came out of the Holy Place, a cloud filled the house of the Lord, so that the priests could not stand to minister because of the cloud, for the glory of the Lord filled the house of the Lord.” - 1 Kings 8:10-11
"My son was reading the Bible and he came to me about one particular story where the fire of the Lord came and filled the temple after Solomon prayed and dedicated it to God. My son said, "Think about how much they must have honored the Lord for Him to show up like that!" I thought to myself, Lord, I want to honor You like that.
I want to challenge you today to marinate until you're flavored. I could speak of "meditating," but I would rather call it marinating. That is, we marinate in God until we taste like Him. It's a marevelous analogy isn't it? Mediate upon God's Word until all of the flavor sinks in.
What a contrast to checking off the Scriptures we're memorizing! What if we marinated in those words until we begin to take on their godly characterisitics? It's amazing what constant focus and immersion in the Scripture can do for you. The thoughts of God become your thoughts, even to the point where it's second nature. Is there a greater blessing in life?
What would a little marinating do for the rest of your day? How would it change your relationship with the Father? Challenge yourself not to just read the Word, but to linger in the Word and soak up all the wisdom and promise it holds. Then watch how it seeps into every other aspect of your life.
Enjoy marinating in the Word of God today. Choose a verse or a passage and say it over and over to yourself as you let the flavor soak into your life."
(Note: This is not my work. This is the Passion Pursuit. I am simply making it available to any reader as well.)
