"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God." - John 1:1
"This verse is referring to Jesus and how He is the Word of God. Because He is the Word, we are to get to know Him deeper by diving into our Bibles and reading more about Him everyday. From the Old Testament to the New, all of the Scriptures bring us into a deeper understanding of God and who He is. John 17:3 says that eternal life is to know God. We will never be able to know all that God is, but it is such an exciting adventure to continually learn more about Him!
Not only does the Word of God bring us into a deeper relationship with the Lord, but it makes us come alive. Hebrews 4:12 says that the Word of God is living and active! By reading the Word daily our Spirits will come alive in Christ and we will be able to live lives that honor Him in all that we do. Don't live in spiritual laziness and lethargy! Take up the Sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God according to Ephesians 6, and live with spiritual vitality and energy!
Read the Word of God to know God and love Him more. Endeavor to read your Bible everyday, even if it's just one passage or a chapter. Start small and as you do this on a daily basis you will find that your hunger for God will grow more and more to the point where reading just one passage or chapter will not be enough! You will be hungry to encounter more and more of our awesome Heavenly Father.

Do you read the Bible just because you should or because you really want to know God? Pray as you read the Bible today and ask God to teach you as you're reading it. As Him to deepen your relationship with Him and grow your love for Him as you read the very words of God."
