Crazy.

I am currently consumed with Crazy Love (which is a book, by Francis Chan). I just wanna share some of what I've read:

"I can't deny what the church does, but I don't believe in their God." This stood out to me probably because so many peoples' view of God is distorted. If they would just let go of their religion and give in to a relationship to God, I think that life would be so much . . . clearer? I am not totally sure. But people are distorting who God really is!

God is HOLY. Look, we can't compromise who God is to make Him convenient when we need Him. God is who He is; "I am who I am."
God is ETERNAL. Take a minute and try to wrap your head around that. God is and has ALWAYS BEEN. Go ahead, take a moment to praise Him. (Psalm 102:12, 27)
God is ALL KNOWING. He doesn't have to know us so well, but he chooses to (Psalm 139; Hebrews 4:13).
God is ALL POWERFUL. Col. 1:16 tells us that all things were created for Him . . . yet we live our lives as if He was created for us (Psalm 115:3; Daniel 4:35).
God is FAIR and JUST. He never excuses sin.

BEFORE THE THRONE
"Woe is me . . . I am ruined! For I am a man of unclean lips, and my eyes have seen the King, the Lord Almighty."

Aren't you just in AWE over the marvelous-ness of God?! Isaiah and John both saw God! They couldn't even accurately describe Him with our lousy mundane words. He is so glorious, so awesome. . so . . . so . . . *sigh* I can't even describe Him. But I can describe myself. I feel worthless and scummy compared to God! But I know it's all right because He loves me and I am saved by the blood of Jesus (Isaiah 6; Rev. 4).

"Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice!" (Phil. 4:4) See, it doesn't end with, ". . . unless you are doing something extremely important."

JUSTIFIED STRESS?

We SHOULD be living like there is no tomorrow! People take life, in general, for granted. Who's to say you will be here in five years? five months? 5 more minutes? James writes, "Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes." (4:13-14)

WORRY implies that we don't quite trust that God is big enough, powerful enough, or loving enough to take care of what is happening in our lives.

STRESS shows that the things we're involved in are important enough to merit our impatience, our lack of grace towards others, or our tight grip of control.

See, our world -unfortunately- is too slow to listen, too quick to speak, and too quick to become angry. We should just shut our mouths! "For the wise man comes to God without saying a word . . . " Maybe we should just sit back, relax, and listen to God for once.
