"Ask and you will receive, seek and you will find, knock and the door will be opened to you.” - Matthew 7:7
"Have you ever wondered if God was talking to you, or if He could really speak to you? Well, I’m here to say, He does speak to us. And not only that, but He has answers to our questions. Most people look for God’s voice to be audible; I even listened for Him to speak audibly. But in order to really hear what God is really saying, we need to come closer to Him and seek Him through prayer and studying His Word.
God still speaks to His people. It’s all in the Bible. I used to think the Bible was boring, because I lacked knowledge and faith in God. I thought the Bible was just a book until I read John 1:1-4, and also Hebrews 4:12: “For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.” My mind was blown. I had a totally different mindset of the Bible. The Word is living and active! He is Jesus Christ speaking within this book. It has every answer to every question we have! All we have to do is search, seek, and knock, and the Lord will answer.
Not only that, but the Word judges the thoughts and attitudes of my heart. Other versions say that the Word discerns the intentions of my heart. So, when I need to know the difference between what my nature wants and what God wants, this verse is saying that when we read the Word of God we will be able to tell the difference between what our heart is saying to us and what God is saying to us. Then we can make decisions based off of His leading and not our natural, sinful inclination.
You can also hear God’s voice through the Holy Spirit who lives inside you. He is our helper who will witness to us of the glory of God. So, if you really want to hear God’s voice, “ask and you will receive, seek and you will find, knock and the door will be opened to you.” (Matthew 7:7)
Take the time to sit still and listen to God. Read a verse of Scripture and then slowly say it to yourself and focus on what the Lord may be saying to you through it. This is called meditation. It's not an emptying of your mind of everything, but a filling of your mind with the truth of God's Word."
(Note: This is not my work. This is the Passion Pursuit. I am simply making it available to any reader as well.)
