A Dreary Departure

The sun's rays shone through his eyelids. He could see the veins dancing across them as he kept his eyes closed. Blood caked his mouth. He licked his lips and took in the taste of blood.
The sun offered warmth, but no comfort did it bring. Only stinging pain would come from this mass in the sky. The heat pierced through his skin, attacking him like arrows in a battle. Even though the sun brought warmth, he was frigid. His body shook with numbness.
Soon enough, the sun stopped shining; he succumbed to darkness. The unknown abyss of death encompassed him.
