"Pray continually…” - 1 Thessalonians 5:17
"Do not underestimate the power of prayer. We have become too distracted these days with programs, activities, etc., many of which, quite frankly, Jesus hasn’t even been invited to.
In 1 Thessalonians, we are told to pray without ceasing. How is this possible? No other way besides making it a lifestyle. Prayer is our direct line of communication to our father in heaven, the power to lose and bound on earth as it is in heaven, the ability to intercede, to stand in the gap, and break away at spiritual forces of darkness. It is so easy to forget in the midst of the routine American schedule.
But we are the church, a called people for Him. We are not called to blend in and conform to the pattern of this world, but rather to be ambassadors of the Gospel, sold out for Christ living solely to bring glory to His name. Prayer and fasting holds so much power. It puts us at a place of such intimacy with the Lord. Only through this closeness will we know the will our Father has for us and receive the peace that will surpass all understanding.
Prayer ushers His Presence into the very fabric of our everyday lives. Let us be carriers of His presence.
Are you willing to make your walk with the Lord a lifestyle? How would your life be different if you were praying continually?"
(Note: This is not my work. This is the Passion Pursuit. I am simply making it available to any reader as well.)
