"I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you.” - Psalm 119:11
Often times people serve God out of a sense of duty. They are bound by a sense of obligation to serve God rather than being compelled to serve God because of His great love for us. When we store the Word of God inside of us we no longer desire to sin which separates us from God.
As you read the Word in an effort to know God more and be wholly devoted to Him, any attitude of duty will fall away because you will become more and more in love with the Lord and filled with a desire to obey Him. In John 14:15 Jesus says that "If you love Me, you will obey what I command." If we want to obey Him more completely then we simply need to fall deeper in love with Him. Therefore, we need to hide His Word in our heart so that we might know Him more.
Jesus also said in John 8 that, "If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free...So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed. ” Jesus promises freedom if we hold to His teachings which are in the Word! How much more should we desire to know His Word and hide it in our hearts! As we read more and more of the Word of God, there is true freedom and we will live lives that are in love with the Lord.
Do you desire freedom in your life today? Read the Word, soak it in and apply it to your life. As your love for the Lord increases and His truth permeates your life, know that bondages will break and you will have freedom in your life."
